Happy Birthday SISTER DEAR!
Today is my “little” sister’s birthday. I hope she had a fantastic day with her co-workers at work… and a scrumptious dinner with her son, Michael, tonight. (Marie Callendar’s - yummy!)
When I was growing up, I thought it was pretty neat that my sister’s birthday was right before Christmas and my birthday was right after Christmas. Lots of new toys and games pretty darn close together. The bad thing was having to wait from the spring until the winter for those presents to come around again!
Now as an adult, I think it is crummy that I have to shop for my sister’s birthday so darn close to shopping for my sister’s Christmas present. It is so hard to come up with ideas for a birthday present in February when you just got everything you wanted for Christmas.
I wished my sister lived closer to me. We could get into lots of trouble together.
Maybe that is why there are so many miles between us.
I love this picture of my sister, my Dad, and me. It was taken the very first time we lit a fire in the fireplace at our house on Norton Street. I have NO IDEA why we hadn’t done it sooner. I think it had something to do with my mother’s complaint that “once you have a fire in the fireplace the bricks get all black and dirty looking”. Sigh… I sure miss having a fireplace. My sister has one and NEVER uses it. Sigh…
Well - I hope that seeing this picture reminds my sister of her childhood. (Yes, she should be VERY thankful that I didn’t post that OTHER picture I have of her in her hot pants! Teeheehee! Or told you what her nickname was…)
Happy Birthday Shirley! Hope you have a FAB-TAB-U-LUS day… Love ya!
